Extended time on skins, fourteen months in second-use French oak and a final rest in stainless steel create a medium-bodied luncheon-claret style with fruit, tannin and acidity held in careful balance.

Frederick Stevenson is the label of South Australian winemaker Steve Crawford. Working with distinctive vineyards and an exploratory range of varieties, Crawford uses thoughtful, low-intervention methods to make savoury, energetic wines that favour perfume and drinkability over excessive weight.

Tasting Note

Cassis, blackcurrant and mulberry are layered with bay leaf, cedar, tobacco and gentle earth. The palate is medium-bodied and savoury, with juicy acidity, fine but definite Cabernet tannin and a dry, persistent finish.

Pair with roast lamb, grilled sirloin, sausages or mushroom pie.
