The 2023 Woodlawn Waverley Vineyard Pinot Noir is a low-yielding, single-vineyard expression from northern Tasmania. A blend of early and later-picked parcels, with approximately 30% whole bunch and eleven months in mostly seasoned French oak, gives a restrained wine of savoury complexity, freshness and fine structure.

Woodlawn is the single-vineyard collection of Tasmanian winemaker Ricky Evans, also known for Two Tonne Tasmania and Havilah. Evans took over the farming of the neglected Waverley Vineyard east of Launceston in 2015, restoring a cool, elevated site planted in 2005 and allowing its naturally low yields and bright acidity to shape the wine.

Tasting Note

Dark cherry, cranberry and blood plum are layered with dried rose, cocoa, graphite, soft spice and a subtle earthy note. The palate is poised and savoury, with energetic acidity, silky but firm tannins and a long, detailed finish.

Pair with duck, roast mushrooms, chargrilled salmon or washed-rind cheese.
