The 2022 Griffins Road Pinot Noir is a finely structured single-vineyard wine from Coghills Creek in the Ballarat region. Planted in 1995 and now farmed organically and regeneratively by Eastern Peake, the high-altitude site produces a bright, savoury Pinot Noir with remarkable intensity, mineral drive and elegance.

Producer

Eastern Peake was established by Dianne Pym and Norman Latta in Coghills Creek in 1983 and is now guided by second-generation winemaker Owen Latta. Its cool, elevated vineyards are rooted in volcanic basalt soils and farmed using organic and regenerative practices. In the cellar, Owen works gently with indigenous yeasts and minimal additions to produce wines that speak clearly of their vineyard and season.

Tasting Note

High-toned red berries meet savoury spice, sandalwood and a subtle charcuterie note. The palate is pure and linear, with blood orange and amaro-like bitterness adding complexity to concentrated red fruit. Fine tannins and fresh acidity are woven tightly through a long, mineral finish.

Beautiful with duck, mushroom dishes, roast chicken or a plate of charcuterie. It can be enjoyed now with a gentle decant or cellared as its savoury complexity develops.
