Alkimi’s 2022 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a poised, savoury expression from the Willowlake vineyard in Gladysdale. Hand-picked and wild fermented with a small portion of whole bunches, it combines bright red fruit, gentle spice and earthy complexity with fine, suede-like tannins.

Alkimi was founded in the Yarra Valley in 2014 by winemaker Stuart Dudine. Drawing on experience across Australia and Europe, Stuart makes small-batch wines with wild yeast, minimal intervention and a hands-on approach that allows vineyard and vintage to lead. His work combines classic cool-climate varieties with a longstanding interest in Rhône grapes and varieties suited to a changing climate.

Tasting Note

Ripe strawberry, raspberry and red cherry lead into rose petals, forest floor, green peppercorn and gentle clove. The palate is bright and layered, with red berries, rhubarb, blood orange and savoury spice carried by fresh acidity and soft, suede-like tannins.

Give it a gentle decant and serve with mushroom pasta, roast chicken, salmon or grilled vegetables.
