A vivid, small-batch Adelaide Hills Gamay with the energy, texture and savoury detail that define Ochota Barrels. The Price of Silence draws on whole-cluster and partial-carbonic fermentation, gentle handling and maturation in old French oak to create a light-footed yet concentrated red with freshness, mineral drive and fine tannins.

Producer

Ochota Barrels was founded by Taras and Amber Ochota after years spent working and travelling through wine regions around the world. From their home in the Basket Range, they developed a distinctly Australian expression of minimal-intervention winemaking, built around organically farmed vineyards, natural acidity, indigenous fermentation and careful use of whole bunches and skin contact.

Following Taras's death in 2020, Amber and the Ochota Barrels team have continued the label's highly personal approach: small parcels, expressive vineyard sites and wines made with freshness, purity and a light touch.

Tasting Note

Lifted raspberry and redcurrant are joined by pepper, dried herbs and a subtle medicinal fragrance. The palate is lithe and energetic, combining juicy red fruit with stony mineral character, bright acidity and finely shaped tannins. The finish is savoury, detailed and persistent.

Serve lightly chilled with charcuterie, roast pork, grilled chicken, earthy mushrooms, lentils or spice-led vegetable dishes.

Shipping

Free local delivery within 5km of Lennox Wine, with no minimum order.

Australia-wide delivery is $20, or free when you spend $300 or more. Orders are dispatched five days a week, and local deliveries are handled by the Lennox Wine team.
