A single-site Syrah from the elevated Rende Vineyard in Blewitt Springs. Approximately 40% whole-cluster fermentation brings fragrance, savoury detail and structure, followed by 14 months in large-format French oak puncheons. Bottled without fining or further additions, it is a medium-bodied and site-driven expression of McLaren Vale Syrah.

Vanguardist is a small, first-generation South Australian wine producer led by vigneron and winemaker Michael J. Corbett. Officially launched in South Australia in 2014, Vanguardist works closely with distinctive vineyard sites to produce small-batch wines that combine traditional methods with a modern, textural approach. The wines are handmade, bottled and labelled at the family’s Barossa Valley base.

Tasting Note

Red berries, blue fruit and plum are layered with savoury herbs, earth and gentle spice. The palate is medium-bodied and energetic, balancing concentrated fruit with freshness, textural tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Pair with grilled lamb, roast duck, mushrooms, charcuterie, lentils or herb-led meat dishes.
